Abstract
Abstract A switch has a body member and an actuating member mounted on the body member and movable relative thereto about mutually perpendicular axes. A sealing element in the form of a disc is mounted on one member and is fixed thereto and has a flexible portion urging a circumferential rolled band into engagement with a smooth surface on the other member to provide an environmental seal between the members.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim
69 words
A device of the kind described comprising a body member, an actuating member pivotally mounted on the body member and having one end movable laterally relative thereto, one of the members having a relatively smooth surface, and a sealing element mounted on the other of said and fixed thereto and having a rolled band urged into engagement with the smooth surface to provide an environmental seal between the members.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
69 words
A device of the kind described comprising a body member, an actuating member pivotally mounted on the body member and having one end movable laterally relative thereto, one of the members having a relatively smooth surface, and a sealing element mounted on the other of said and fixed thereto and having a rolled band urged into engagement with the smooth surface to provide an environmental seal between the members.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
29 words
A device as described in claim 1 in which the sealing element has a flexible portion under stress for urging the rolled band into engagement with the smooth surface.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
44 words
A device of the kind described in claim 1 which is an electric switch and the actuating member is pivotally mounted on the body member and the rolled band of the sealing element slides over the smooth surface as the actuating member is moved.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
A device as described in claim 1 in which the rolled band is made of silicone rubber.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
27 words
A device as described in claim 1 which includes a thin layer of silicon grease between the rolled band of the sEaling element and the smooth surface.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
33 words
A device of the kind described in claim 1 in which the body member is provided with the smooth surface and the sealing element is mounted on the actuating member and moves therewith.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
41 words
A device as described in claim 6 in which the sealing element is in the form of a disc having a hublike portion fitting snugly around the actuating member and the rolled band is positioned at the circumference of the disc.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
24 words
A device as described in claim 7 in which the sealing element includes a flexible portion between the hublike portion and the rolled band.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
31 words
A device as described in claim 8 in which the flexible portion of the sealing element is under stress for urging the rolled band lightly into engagement with the smooth surface.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
30 words
A device of the kind described in claim 1 in which the actuating member is provided with the smooth surface and the sealing element is mounted on the body member.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
51 words
A device of the kind described in claim 10 in which the sealing element is in the form of a disc having a hublike portion secured to the body member and arranged to accommodate movement of the actuating member and the rolled band is positioned at the circumference of the disc.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
24 words
A device as described in claim 11 in which the sealing element has a flexible portion between the hublike portion and the rolled band.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
