Abstract A PROCESS FOR MAKING CRIMPED POLYESTER FILAMENTS HAVING SPECIAL PROPERTIES COMPRISES MELT-SPINNING THE FILAMENTS, LIQUID-QUENCHING THE HOT FILAMENTS ASYMMETRICALLY BY CONTACTING ONE SIDE OF THE FILAMENTS WITH A CONTINUOUSLY RENEWED THIN FILM OF LIQUID ON A SOLID TAPERED BODY LOCATED BELOW THE SPINNERET, DRAWING THE FILAMENTS, RELEASING THE TENSION TO DEVELOP CRIMP AND THEN HEAT-SETTING THE CRIMPED FILAMENTS.
