Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 15 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein the body is of a soda-lime glass.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 18 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein the chemical tempering involves an exchange of alkali metal ions.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
A process as defined in claim 3 wherein the ion exchange involves the replacement of sodium ions originally present in the body by potassium ions.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
A process as defined in claim 4 wherein the medium includes, as at least one ingredient, a molten potassium salt.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 49 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein the tempering is carried out by passing the body through a mass of the diffusion medium and said step of decreasing the temperature is carried out by decreasing the temperature of the medium along the path of movement of the body.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
A process as defined in claim 6 wherein the body is a ribbon of drawn glass which is caused to pass through the medium.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 28 words
A process as defined in claim 7 wherein the ribbon of glass is caused to pass continuously into the medium from the drawing zone of a glass-drawing machine.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein the diffusion medium is in the form of a coating disposed on the body during the ion exchange.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 46 words
A process as defined in claim 1 comprising the preliminary step of preheating the body before bringing it into contact with the medium, the medium with which the body is initially brought into contact being at the temperature at which the ion exchange is to commence.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 19 words
A body of vitreous or vitrocrystalline material strengthened by being subjected to the process as defined in claim 1.
