Claim 1
Independent Claim
85 words
A sleeve connector for joining an electric blasting cap and a detonating cord in initiating relationship comprising a semirigid cylinder at least as long as said electric blasting cap, said cylinder having an opening at one end A slightly larger than the diameter of said blasting cap and smaller than the diameter of said blasting cap plus said detonating cord, and having a sufficient inside diameter and opening at the other end B to contain said electric blasting cap and said detonating cord sideby-side therein.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
14 words
A sleeve connector according to claim 1 which is made of a plastic material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
55 words
A detonating assembly comprising: a. a sleeve connector according to claim 1, b. an electric blasting cap positioned within said sleeve connector and having leg wires extending through the opening at end A thereof, and c. a detonating cord extending through said sleeve connector and being knotted outside said sleeve connector at end A thereof.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
87 words
A method of joining a detonating cord and an electric blasting cap having leg wires with a sleeve connector according to claim 1 comprising a. passing said electric blasting cap through the opening at end A of said sleeve connector and through said sleeve connector, leaving said leg wires extending through said sleeve connector; b. passing said detonating cord through said sleeve connector; c. knotting said detonating cord outside of end A of said sleeve connector; and d. retracting said electric blasting cap into said sleeve connector.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
44 words
The method of claim 4 wherein said electric blasting cap is inserted into said sleeve connector by grasping said leg wires by one means while by another means grasping said sleeve connector and detonating cord, and exerting a gentle pulling action between said means.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
21 words
The method of claim 4 wherein said detonating cord is passed through said sleeve connector from end B to end A.
