Abstract DISCLOSED HEREIN IS A PROCESS FOR LEACHING MERCURY VALUES FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE ORES. THE LEACHING SOLUTION COMPRISES BOTH AN OXIDIZING AGENT SUCH AS DISSOLVED CHLORINE OR HYPOCHLORITE, AND AN INORGANIC SALT, E.G. SODIUM CHLORIDE. THE PRESENCE OF THE SALT ENHANCES THE RATE OF MERCURY SOLUBILIZATION.
