Abstract WHERE R is a C4-C20 n-alkyl group attached to the oxygen atom through a primary or secondary carbon atom, n is a number from 5 to, and including, 25, and m is a number from 1 to, and including, 5. The new use is as a low-foam, caustic stable, nonionic surfactant cleaning agent especially effective for spray cleaning metal and for rinsing in mechanical dishwasher applications wherein the cleaning agent is an aqueous solution of the polyether-substituted chlorohydrins defined by the structural formula above. The newly observed low-foam, highly wetting characteristics of these materials also render them very useful as a rinsing aid in mechanical dishwashers, where even moderate foaming cannot be tolerated. A new use for known polyether-substituted chlorohydrins having the structural formula
A low foam cleaning solution as defined in claim 1 wherein said aqueous solution contains from about 0.1 to about 0.25 weight percent of said epichlorohydrin capped ethoxylated alcohol compound.

A low foam cleaning solution as defined in claim 5 wherein said compound includes from 8.5 to 10 ethenoxy groups.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
17 words
A low foam cleaning solution as defined in claim 6 wherein said compound contains one epichlorohydrin group.
