Abstract

Abstract A system is disclosed for providing a desired energizing current, according to a reference current signal, to a load or group of load elements. Three-phase energizing current is rectified by a plurality of controlled switching devices such as thyristors, and means are provided for varying the firing angle of the thyristors in accordance with the reference current signal to regulate the resulting output voltage therefrom and thereby regulate the energizing current through the load. Digital transmission means are provided to transmit digital signals in a high noise level environment. A plurality of error detecting circuits provide alarm signals in the event that the desired current is exceeded, maximum current is called for, or one of the power phases is missing, for more than predetermined time periods. Improved means are also provided for synchronizing asynchronous generators to provide a single three-phase power source.
