Abstract
Abstract A method of covering a surface such as a roof of a building with a coating including a liquid asphalt, diluents for controlling the hardening of the asphalt and granules which are applied to the asphalt while it is in the liquid state. The method is carried out by means of apparatus including a machine for fluffing fibrous material, a machine for mixing the fibrous material with the liquid asphalt and the diluents, and mechanism for moving the asphalt mixture to the surface and applying same evenly thereon. The apparatus also includes a device for moving the granules from a supply thereof to a point near the surface and then spreading said granules evenly over a coating of the liquid asphalt applied to the surface.
