Abstract TWO SEPARATE TRAINS OF SAFETY ELEMENTS, ONE BEING AN INERTIAL SAFETY MECHANISM THAT RELEASES THE CLOCKWORK ONLY WHEN THE PROJECTILE IS ACCELERATED, EACH PREVENTS THE PRIMER CHARGE FROM BEING MOVED INTO ALIGNMENT WITH THE FIRING PIN UNTIL THE PROJECTILE IS ACCELERATED AND, IN THE CASE OF THE NON-INERTIAL TRAIN, UNTIL THE CLOCKWORK RUNS.
