Abstract A BASE FABRIC, SUCH AS FIBROUS FLEECE SHEET, IS PERFORATED FROM OPPOSITE SIDES BY NEEDLES KNITTING WALES AND COURSES. THE LOOPS OF SUCCESSIVE COURSES ARE ALTERNATINGLY PLACED IN ADJACENT WALES SO THAT BACK LOOP PORTIONS EXTEND BETWEEN ADJACENT WALES, AND CAN BE DRAWN OUT TO FORM PILE LOOPS.
