Absorption of gaseous cell product in cell liquor apparatus
Abstract
Abstract The efficiency of electrolytic cells in which a gaseous cell product reacts with a component of the cell liquor or a reagent added to the electrolytic cell, may be substantially improved by the insertion of gas-dispersing means above the electrodes of the electrolytic cell and below the surface of the cell liquors. The dispersing means serves to mechanically diffuse the gaseous cell product into the cell liquor containing the reactant to provide intimate mixing and increased contact of reactants. The gasdispersing means may be any inert conventional absorption packing or distillation column packing such as, Berl saddles, Raschig rings, bubble trays, glass beads, and the like.
