Abstract A FLOWMETER HAVING AN IMPACT PLATE MEANS, SUCH AS A VANE, WHICH IS MOUNTED IN A FLUID FLOW AND OSCILLATED. THE VANE IS SUBJECTED TO TORQUE PRODUCED BY THE DRAG OF THE FLOW IN THE VANE AND THE MASS FLOW RATE OF THE FLUID IS INFERRED BY MEASURING THE TORQUE OR ITS EFFECT ON VARIOUS PARAMETERS OF THE MOTION OF THE VANE.
