Abstract
Abstract 3-(4-R-O-Phenyl)-2-Z-phthalimidines, having endocrinological activities, are prepared by reacting a 3-(4hydroxyphenyl)phthalide with an amine of the formula Z-NH2 and reacting the resulting 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-Z-phthalimidine with an R-halide where R is lower-alkyl, lower-carbalkoxy-(loweralkyl), 2,3-epoxypropyl or BN-Y where BN is lower-tertiary-amino and Y is polycarbon-lower-alkylene, and Z is alkyl having from four to 10 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having from three to eight ring-carbon atoms inclusive, phenyl and Q-phenyl where Q is from one to three substituents selected from halo, lower-alkyl, loweralkoxy, trihalomethyl, hydroxy or benzyloxy.
