Abstract

Abstract An electrolytic junction membrance for the measuring of ionic potential in electrolytes is formed of a glass body having a continuous interconnected system of pores of an average, and preferably substantially uniform, pore-diameter between about 125 A. and 1,700 A. and preferably not above 250 A., and wherein the ratio of pore-volume to glass-volume is between about 1:2 and 2: 1; and a method of producing such glass body by heating glass above its melting point so as to form two distinct phases therein, solidifying the glass while maintaining said distinct phases, and removing one of the two distinct phases by leaching.
