Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
7 words
The process of claim 1 wherein T3>Tm.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
18 words
The process of claim 2 wherein said article is cooled below temperature Tm before removal from said mold.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
24 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said thermoplastic fibers consist essentially of a material selected from the group consisting of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and nylon.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said thermoplastic resin binder consists essentially of a material selected from the group consisting of polyacrylates, polymethacrylates, polyesters and polyurethanes.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
The process of claim 5 wherein said thermoplastic resin binder consists essentially of the copolyester poly(ethylene terephthalate/azelate).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
33 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said plurality of crimped, thermoplastic fibers bonded with a thermoplastic resin binder at their crossover points comprises a web of crimped thermoplastic fibers impregnated with said binder.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
21 words
The process of claim 7 wherein said fibers have about 9 crimps per inch and are about 2 inches in length.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
69 words
The process of claim 1 including the further steps of heating said expanded, fibrous article above temperature Tm, cooling said article below temperature Tm, comPressing said article at temperature T5, cooling said article to temperature T4, removing the compressive force, and heating said article to temperature T6 so as to cause said article to assume substantially the same shape it had before said further steps, wherein T6>T5>Tg>T4, and Tm>T5.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
61 words
The process of claim 2 including the further steps of cooling said article below temperature Tm, compressing said article at temperature T5, Cooling said article to temperature T4, Removing the compressive force, and heating said article to temperature T6 so as to cause said article to assume substantially the same shape it had before said further steps, wherein T6>T5>Tg>T4, and Tm>T5.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
55 words
The process of claim 3 including the further steps of compressing said article at temperature T5, cooling said article to temperature T4, removing the compressive force, and heating said article to temperature T6 so as to cause said article to assume substantially the same shape it had before said further steps, wherein T6>T5>Tg>T4, and Tm>T5.
