Abstract

Abstract Thin-walled multibore tubing have from about 10 to over 300 individual longitudinal bores is unitarily formed by drawing molten glass downwardly through a multiple bell orifice structure so as to provide a multiplicity of small diameter holes or bores having thin-walled partitions therebetween which produce an open frontal area of up to about 80 percent of the cross-sectional area of such tubing with a hole density of over 200 holes per square inch.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 47 words
A method of forming multiple-bore tubing as defined in claim 1 wherein air is supplied to said drawn tubing at one pressure between peripherally oriented interconnected openings, and air at another pressure is supplied between a plurality of interconnected openings equally spaced from the peripherally oriented openings.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 26 words
A method of forming multiple-bore tubing as defined in claim 1 wherein a separate fluid supply is provided between the interconnected openings adjacent corner areas thereof.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 36 words
A method of forming multiple-bore tubing as defined in claim 1 wherein air is supplied at on pressure intermediate peripherally oriented openings and increased air pressures are applied intermediate openings inwardly oriented from the peripheral openings.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 33 words
A method of forming multiple-bore tubing as defined in claim 1 wherein a thicker flow of molten glass passes through central portions of each interconnected opening than adjacent the connected end portions thereof.
