Abstract A SLIDE MOUNT FOR FIFTH WHEELS HAVING A BASE FRAME MOUNTED ON THE TRACTOR AND A SLIDE MOUNTED ON THE BASE FRAME AND WHICH CARRIES THE FIFTH WHEEL. THE BASE FRAME RAILS CARRY INDIVIDUALLY FORMED SPACED APART RETAINERS PROVIDING TAPERED POCKETS TO RECEIVE LOCKING MEMBERS, THE LOCKING MEMBERS BEING CARRIED BY THE SLIDE AND BEING SPRING BIASED TO LOCKING POSITIONS AND OPERATIVELY CONNECTED TO A COMMON HANDLE FOR WITHDRAWING THEM TO FREE THE SLIDE FOR FORE AND AFT MOVEMENT.
