Abstract A PATTERNED TUFTED CARPET INCLUDES A THIN NEEDLEBONDED SURFACE WHICH VISUALLY MASKS THE SCRIM AND THE BASES OF THE TUFTS, AND THE TUFTS AND SUBFACE FIBERS ARE EQUALLY, COMPATIBLY DYABLE SO THAT THE COLORATION AND LIGHT REFLECTANCE ARE UNIFORM. THE CARPET IS MADE BY NEEDLING THE SUBFACE ONTO THE SCRIM, TUFTING THROUGH THE SCRIM AND SUBFACE, AND THEN DYING OR PRINTING.
