Abstract

Abstract A telephone paystation which permits calling to one or more preselected numbers without deposition of a coin. No attempt is made to restrict the dialling of any number. However, the action of dialling causes the telephone''s transmit and receive circuit to be at least partly disabled. Enabling of the circuit is accomplished by deposition of a coin or by transmission of a control signal from the central office which is sent in response to the dialling of the preselected numbers.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 126 words
A pay station for a telephone system having a central office including means for transmitting a control signal in response to the dialling of at least one preselected number at the pay station; the pay station comprising: a dial; a signal path including a switch hook and a transmit and receive circuit, the transmit and receive circuit being connected to a telephone line of the telephone system upon actuation of the switch hook; means responsive to the actuation of the dial for at least partially disabling the transmit and receive circuit; means responsive to the insertion of a coin and the like for enabling the transmit and receive circuit; and means responsive to the transmission of said control signal for enabling the transmit and receive circuit.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 126 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
A pay station as defined in claim 1 additionally including means responsive to the transmission of said control signal for returning the coin and the like.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 254 words
A pay station, for a telephone system having a central office connected to the pay station by a telephone line, said central office having a control circuit for transmitting a control signal to the pay station in response to the dialling of at least one preselected number at said station; said pay station comprising: a transmit and receive circuit; a first control path including a switch hook, dialing means, set relay means for at least partially disabling the transmit and receive circuit and for engaging reset relay means upon actuation thereof, and first contact means responsive to actuation of the dialing means for connecting the first control path to the control circuit of the central office so as to actuate said set relay means by an operating current from the central office; a second control path including the switch hook and the reset relay means for enabling the transmit and receive circuit and for disengaging itself upon actuation thereof; and second contact means responsive to the unactuated dialing means for connecting said second control path to the control circuit of the central office so as to actuate the reset relay means by the control signal; and a signal path connected to the telephone line and including the switch hook, the second contact means, the transmit and receive circuit, the reset relay means, and coin-actuated means for enabling the reset relay means so that the operating current from the telephone line will actuate the reset relay means and thereby enable the transmit and receive circuit.
Claim 5
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 40 words
A pay station as defined in claim 3 which additionally comprises: a third control path including further coin-actuated means for enabling the third control path, and means responsive to said control signal for ejecting said coins from the pay station.
