Abstract A HARD FACING COMPOSITION IS DISCLOSED HEREIN WHICH CONTAINS CARBON, CHROMIUM, NICKEL, SILICA, MANGANESE, BORON AND IRON. THE COMPOSITION IS APPLIED TO METAL SURFACES TO PROVIDE A FUSED METALLIC HARD FACING ON THE SURFACE WHEN THE MATERIAL IS HEATED TO MELTING TEMPERATURE.
