Abstract A NOVEL SEPARATIVE APPARATUS COMPRISING A SEPARATION ZONE WHEREBY (1) AN IMMOBILIZED LIQUID PHASE IS SEPARATED FROM A MOBILE LIQUID PHASE BY A SEMI-PERMEABLE MEMBRANE AND WHEREIN SAID MOBILE LIQUID PHASE IS A CARRIER LIQUID FOR A PLURALITY OF COMPOUNDS, AT LEAST ONE OF WHICH COMPOUNDS INTERACTS, CHEMICALLY OR PHYSICALLY, WITH THE SEMI-PERMEABLE MEMBRANE AND/OR THE IMMOBILIZED LIQUID PHASE AND IS THEREBY RETARDED IN ITS PROGRESS THROUGH THE REACTION ZONE.
