Abstract

Abstract Apparatus for improving the Q-switching of a laser beam wherein a critical transmission prism is placed in the Fabry-Perot interferometric cavity. In one embodiment, two Lummer-Gehrke plates are joined by their end faces in a V-shape to form said critical transmission prism having an aligned input and output. In a second embodiment, two Lummer-Gehrke plates are joined to a prism to form said critical transmission prism having an aligned input and output.
