Abstract

Abstract A crowbar circuit for overvoltage protection of loads in which the setting of the overvoltage crowbar trip point is made without activating the crowbar circuit. Normally, the setting is made by adjusting the power supply to the voltage trip level desired and then setting the crowbar sense network until activation occurs. This procedure is considered dangerous for the load during ''''online'''' operation of power supplies. The invention permits setting the crowbar actuation on trip level by meter reading without changing the power supply level.
