Abstract
Abstract A flash tank for a superheated liquid has a rotated cylindrical shell divided into longitudinal compartments by transverse stationary partitions which extend into liquid introduced into the shell, the compartments being successively evacuated to a greater extent to successively flash the liquid to a vapor as it flows from one compartment to another under centrifugal force.

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
111 words
A centrifugal flash tank for a superheated liquid comprising, in combination, a cylindrical rotating shell, means introducing a liquid into said shell, transverse stationary, axially displaced, perforate disk-shaped baffles in said shell having their outer peripheral edges extending into the centrifuged liquid in said shell, said disk-shaped baffles forming successive axially contiguous flash evaporation chambers in said shell, vapor exhaust pipes sealingly extending through said baffles, the open ends of said pipes terminating in respective ones of said chambers, and exhaust means connected to said pipes progressively reducing pressure in said successive flash evaporation chambers, and at least one bore in the lower end of the shell for discharging concentrated solutions.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
50 words
The combination according to claim 1 wherein said pipes are concentrically disposed and extend longitudinally through one end of said shell, the centermost pipe extending to the chamber most remote from the end of said shell entered by said concentric pipes and the outer pipes extending successively to respective chambers.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
37 words
The combination according to claim 1 wherein said liquid is introduced into the remote end of said shell, said shell having at that end a first inturned annular end wall retaining said liquid introduced into said shell.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
31 words
The combination according to claim 3 wherein said at least one bore is contained in a second inturned annular end wall through which the concentrated liquid may flow from said shell.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
37 words
The combination according to claim 4 with the addition of a stationary annular collecting ring disposed about said cylindrical shell and said second annular end wall collecting liquid flowing through the aperture in said second end wall.
