Abstract THE METHOD IS PROVIDED WWHEREIN A BLOCK OF MATERIAL IN THE PLASTIC STATE, E.G. LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE, IS PREPARED IN A MOULD, IS TRANSFERRED BY A LIFTING DEVICE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE MOULD TO A CUTTING TABLE, THE OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE BLOCK BEING SUPPORTED BY PANELS OR CLAMPING JAWS. AT THE CUTTING STATION, THE BLOCK IS CUT INTO PIECES AND ALLOWED TO SET. THE METHOD IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE USE OF SUCTION MEANS, WHEREBY A LIFTING SUCTION IS APPLIED TO THE TOP SURFACE OF THE BLOCK TO AID IN LIFTING THE BLOCK IN A RELATIVELY SOFT STATE WITHOUT DESTROYING IT DURING TRANSPORT.
