Abstract THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER DEPOSIT FORMATION AND EXHAUST HYDROCARBON EMISSION OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES IS REDUCED BY OPERATING THE ENGINE ON A FUEL CONTAINING AN ALKOXYBENZYLIDENE BISPHENOL SUCH AS 4,4''-(P-METHOXYBENZYLIDENE)BIS(2,6 - DI-TERT-BUTYLPHENOL). THESE SAME ALKOXYBENZYLIDENE BISPHENOLS ARE ALSO ANTIOXIDANTS.
