Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 137 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner comprising: a. an integrally molded member forming a substantial part of an annular pump chamber and an electric motor housing; b. a partition integrally molded with said member positioned between said pump chamber and said electric motor housing; c. an impeller mounted for rotation within said pump chamber, said impeller including a hub portion and a plurality of radially extending blades; d. said annular pump chamber including an enlarged air inlet chamber for permitting inlet air to freely flow to both sides of said impeller and an air-accelerating chamber adjacent to said air inlet chamber for producing two general spiral air paths; and e. a diffusing chamber having an enlarged exhaust opening, a substantial part of said diffusing chamber being integrally molded with said annular pump chamber.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 137 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 1 wherein a generally cylindrical bearing holder is integrally molded in said partition.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 32 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 2 wherein a suction air inlet opening is integrally formed in said partition radially outwardly of the bearing.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 38 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 3 wherein an integrally molded cover member is provided for forming a sidewall of said pump chamber and a sidewall of said diffusing chamber.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 29 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 4 wherein said integrally molded cover member also includes an integrally formed air inlet opening.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 51 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 2, wherein brush-receiving housings are integrally formed with said electric motor housing, said brush-receiving housings extending radially outwardly from said bearing and being integrally connected to said partition and the outer wall of said electric motor housing.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 52 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 1 wherein a switch chamber having an outer wall is integrally formed with said electric motor housing and an opening is formed in the outer wall of said switch chamber for receiving a manually actuable switch control member.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 41 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 7 wherein the exhaust opening from said diffusing chamber is integrally formed in said integrally molded member immediately adjacent to the opening formed in said switch chamber.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 54 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 1 wherein screw-receiving lugs are integrally formed in said integrally molded member, a pump chamber cover is fixed to said screw-receiving lugs, and said cover is positioned on said integrally formed member in a plane generally parallel to said partition.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 42 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 6 and further comprising an electric motor having a commutator and brushes, said brushes being inserted within said brush housings and said commutator being positioned between said brushes.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 40 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 1 wherein screw receiving lugs are integrally formed in said electric motor housing and a cover for said electric motor is connected to said screw-receiving lugs.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 59 words
A vacuum cleaner including the electric motor and suction pump as defined in claim 1 wherein said vacuum cleaner includes a casing and an exhaust opening having a plurality of louvers is provided in the casing and said opening is positioned adjacent to the enlarged exhaust opening of said diffusing chamber away from the user of the vacuum cleaner.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 134 words
An electric motor and suction pump for a vacuum cleaner as defined in claim 1 wherein said impeller includes a radially extending disc centrally disposed on said hub portion, a first set of blades extending from one side of said disc and a second set of blades extending from the other side of said disc, the blades of said one set of blades being alternately arranged with respect to the other set of blades; and a baffle wall is positioned in said diffusing chamber, said baffle wall being located adjacent to the tips of said impeller so that said baffle wall has a shearing action on the gas impelled by said blades as it passes the baffle and is directed through said diffusing chamber, said baffle wall being arranged generally tangential to said impeller.
