Abstract A METHOD OF OPERATING A FAST BREEDER REACTOR IN WHICH THE COOLANT IS PASSED SERIALLY THROUGH AT LEAST ONE PART OF THE BLANKET AND THE CORE IN SERIES WHICH METHOD RESIDES IN CAUSING THE FISSILE FUEL TO MOVE THROUGH THE CORE IN COUNTERFLOW TO THE COOLANT FLOW DIRECTIN AND THE FERTILE FUEL IN CONCURRENT FLOW WITH THE COOLANT FLOW DIRECTION.
