Abstract AN ION PUMP FOR OPERATION WITH A HIGH VACUUM ELECTRONIC DISCHARGE TUBE IS PHYSICALLY LOCATED WITHIN EXTERNAL COLUMNS OF PERMANENT MAGNETIC DISCS PRODUCING THE MAGNETIC FIELD REQUIRED FOR OPERATION OF THE TUBE. THE ION PUMP USES PART OF THIS MAGNETIC FIELD FOR ITS OWN OPERATION.
