Abstract
Abstract TO MEASURE SMALL VARITIONS IN A LOAD AN INITIAL LOAD IS APPLIED TO A LEVER AT ONE END AND AT THE OTHER END A BALANCING SPRING AND A LOAD CELL ARE ARRANGED ON THE OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE LEVER. THE SPRING COEFFICIENT OF THE BALANCING SPRING IS MUCH GREATER THAN THAT OF THE LOAD CELL. THE LOAD-VARIATIONS COMPONENT SUBTRACTED FROM OR ADDED TO THE INITIAL LOAD IS MEASURED BY THE LOAD CELL WITH ITS FULL SCALE UPON SUBTRACTING OR ADDING THE INITIAL LOAD COMPONENT. A BRACKET MAY BE USED INSTEAD OF THE LEVER.
