Abstract
Abstract Some practical problems encountered in the fabrication of hollow metallic waveguides for use at millimeter and optical frequencies are overcome in a structure comprising a hollow glass tube surrounded by pairs of dielectric layers of prescribed refractive indices and thicknesses. An outer metallic layer is optional. In addition to resolving fabrication problems, the attenuation constant is reduced as the number of pairs of dielectric layers is increased.
