Abstract

Abstract A charge bearing member comprising a free surface first electrically insulating layer which is electrically charged and which is backed by an electrically conductive substrate, is positioned, contiguous a second electrically insulating layer to be charged on an electrically conductive substrate. The insulating layers face each other during the transfer of charge to said second electrically insulating layer. The above steps are repeated at least a second time to transfer more charge to said second electrically insulating layer.
