Abstract MONOMERIC MONOFUNCITIONAL CHLOROMETHYL DIPHENYL OXIDE AND/OR ALKOXY METHYL DIPHENYL OXIDE IS REACTED WITH A SUBSTANTIALLY EQUIMOLAR AMOUNT OF A PHENOL. THE PRODUCT IS FURTHER REACTED WITH FORMALDEHYDE TO FORM A RESOLE THAT THAT MAY BE CONVERTED TO A CROSS-LINKED POLYMER BY THE APPLICATION OF HEAT. THE RESOLE RESINS MAY BE BLENDED WITH MODIFYING COMPOSITIONS SUCH AS EOPXY ESTERS AND/OR OIL MODIFIED ALKYDS AND THE LIKE.
