Abstract

Abstract A dry, self-lubricating bearing comprises an outer and an inner race with coengaging bearing surfaces with the bearing surfaces on one race being made of a solid lubricant material and the bearing surfaces on the other race being made of a hardened material such as a thin ceramic coating on a metal substrate. In one embodiment, the outer race comprises a single member while the inner race comprises two separate members slidably carried within opposed seats of the outer race with the bearing being capable of absorbing radial, axial and moment loading individually or in combination. In other embodiment, the outer race is split comprising two members and/or the outer race is carried within concave seats of the inner race.
