Abstract FERROUS METAL IS CORROSION-PROOFED WITH A SOLUTION OBTAINED BY TREATING CHROMITE ORE OR OTHER OXIDE WITH GALLIC ACID. OTHER CHELATING AGENTS MAY REPLACE THE GALLIC ACID. THE SOLUTIONS CAN ALSO BE USED FOR THE DEPOSITION OF OXIDES ON INEXPENSIVE MINERAL MATERIAL TO FORM ATTRITION-RESISTANT SUPPORTED CATALYSTS.
