Abstract

Abstract An apparatus for removing toxic substances and excess water from blood being intended for treating chronic cases of renal insufficiency. In contrast to the devices known in the art, the present apparatus provides an effective normalization of aqueouselectrolytic balance and elimination of toxic products of metabolism when it is not necessary to introduce the donor blood for the initial filling of the blood conveying system. In said apparatus, the resistance of the blood conveying system of the dialyzer is reduced. The elements of the blood conveying system are sterilized by oil boiling or treating in an autoclave.
