Abstract
Abstract An ablative structure in the form of a relatively thick-walled body of revolution is prepared by laying up, substantially sideby-side successive panels of high temperature resistant materials impregnated with a thermally curable resin within a female mold, disposing between certain panels removable aperture-defining plugs out of communication with the interior and exterior surface of the body, curing the resin and densifying the structure under radially outwardly exerted pressure and removing the plugs from the structure.
