Abstract PACKAGES, ESPECIALLY THOSE CONTAINING PERISHABLE FOODS, ARE LABELED WITH PRESSURE-SENSITIVE LABELS IN A PROCESS WHICH PROVIDES FOR WEIGHING EACH PACKAGE, PRINTING TYHE WEIGHT AND COST ON A LABEL ADHERED TO A BACKING STRIP, REMOVING THE LABEL FROM THE STRIP, AND APPLYING TO THE PACKAGE.
