Abstract FORMULATIONS ARE PROVIDED FOR CONTACT THERMOGRAPHIC COATINGS OF A TYPE PARTICULARLY APPLICABLE FOR NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF BONDED STRUCTURES. A HEAT-SENSITIVE (THERMOGRAPHIC) PHOSPHOR IS UNIFORMLY DISPERSED IN A VEHICLE OF A TYPE WHICH WILL NOT DEGRADE THE PHOSPHOR''S PROPERTIES OR THE TRANSMITTANCE OF THE EXCITING ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION. THE VEHICLE FURTHER PROVIDES GOOD ADHERENCE AND OTHER DESIRABLE COATING PROPERTIES. ALTERNATIVE FORMULATIONS, INCLUDING BOTH WATER-BASE AND ORGANIC-SOLVENT BASE FORMULATIONS, AS WELL AS A STRIPPABLE (PEEL COAT) VERSION WHICH MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE SUBSTRATE AS A CONTINUOUS SHEET, ARE PROVIDED.
