Fuel control system for a cooking apparatus or the like

Claim 2

In combination, a source of fuel, a main burner means having passage means leading thereto, a control device for interconnecting said source of fuel to said passage means when said control device is set in an operating position thereof, and a fluid pressure operated valve means disposed in said first passage means intermediate said control device and said main burner means to prevent flow through said passage means when said valve means is closed and to permit flow through said passage means when opened, said valve means being operatively interconnected to said passage means to be operated to its closed position by the pressure of fuel flow through said passage means when said control device is set in at least one particular operating position thereof, said valve means not being operated to its closed position by the pressure of fuel in said passage means when said control device is set in another particular position thereof.

Claim 3

A combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein a pilot burner means is provided for said main burner means and has another passage means leading thereto, said control device interconnecting said source of fuel to said other passage means when set in said other particular position thereof.

Claim 4

A combination as set forth in claim 2 wherein a safety valve means is disposed in said first-named passage means and has means for sensing certain flame means at said pilot burner means, said sensing means opening said safety valve means only when sensing said certain flame means at said pilot burner means.

Claim 5

A combination as set forth in claim 3 wherein said safety valve means is disposed intermediate said main burner means and said fluid pressure operated valve means.

Claim 6

In combination, a source of fuel, a main broil burner, a pilot burner for said broil burner, a main bake burner, a pilot burner for said bake burner, a control device, first passage defining means leading from said control device to said main burners, second and third pilot burner passage defining means respectively leading from said control device to said pilot burners, said control device being adapted to interconnect said source of fuel to said first and second passage means when set in one position thereof and being adapted to interconnect said source of fuel to said first and third passage means when set in another position thereof, and a fluid pressure operated valve means disposed in said first passage means intermediate said control device and one of said main burners to prevent fuel flow to said one main burner when said valve means is closed and to permit fuel flow to said one main burner when opened, said valve means being operatively interconnected to said first passage means to be operated to its closed position by the pressure of fuel flow through said first passage means when said control device is set in a position thereof for interconnecting said source of fuel to said first passage means and to the pilot burner passage means for the other main burner.

Claim 7

In combination, a source of fuel, a main broil burner, a pilot burner for said broil burner, a main bake burner, a pilot burner for said bake burner, a control device, first passage defining means leading from said control device to said main burners, second and third pilot burner passage defining means respectively leading from said control device to said pilot burners, said control device being adapted to interconnect said source of fuel to said first and second passage means when set in one position thereof and being adapted to interconnect said source of fuel to said first and third passage means when set in another position thereof, and a fluid pressure operated valve means disposed in said first passage means intermediate said control device and one of said main burners to prevent fuel flow to said one main burner when said valve means is closed and to permit fuel flow to said one main burner when opened, said valve means being operatively interconnected to said first passage means to be operated to its closed position by the pressure of fuel flow through said first passage means when said control device is set in a position thereof for interconnecting said source of fuel to said first passage means and to the pilot burner passage means for the other main burner.

Claim 8

A combination as set forth in claim 5 wherein a safety valve means is disposed in said first passage means and has means For sensing certain flame means at the pilot burner for said one main burner, said sensing means opening said safety valve means only when sensing said certain flame means at said pilot burner for said one main burner to permit fuel to flow to said one main burner.

Claim 9

A combination as set forth in claim 6 wherein said safety valve means is disposed intermediate said pressure-operated valve means and said one main burner.

Claim 10

A combination as set forth in claim 6 wherein said control device causes said certain flame means only when interconnecting said source of fuel to the pilot burner passage means leading to the pilot burner for said one main burner by being set to operate said one main burner.

Claim 11

A combination as set forth in claim 5 wherein a safety valve means is disposed in said first passage means and has means for sensing certain flame means at the pilot burner for said other main burner, said sensing means only opening said safety valve means when sensing said certain flame means at said pilot burner for said one main burner to permit fuel to flow to said one main burner.

Claim 12

A combination as set forth in claim 9 wherein said control device causes said certain flame means only when interconnecting said source of fuel to the pilot burner passage means leading to the pilot burner for said other main burner by being set to operate said other main burner.

Claim 13

A combination as set forth in claim 9 wherein another passage-defining means interconnects said first passage means intermediate said safety valve means and said other main burner to said pressure-operated valve means so that fuel pressure passing through said safety valve means when opened will cause the closing of said pressure-operated valve means.

Claim 14

A combination as set forth in claim 11 wherein said pressure-operated valve means is adapted to be opened by the fuel pressure in said first passage means upstream from said safety valve means except when opposed by the fuel pressure downstream from said safety valve means and directed thereto by said other passage means.

Claim 15

A combination as set forth in claim 12 wherein said one main burner is said main broil burner.

Claim 16

In a fuel control system for an apparatus having a plurality of main burners, the improvement comprising a fluid pressure operated valve means for controlling the flow of fuel to one of said main burners, said pressure-operated valve means being responsive to the pressure of the flow of fuel to another of said main burners so that when fuel is flowing to said other main burner the pressure of that fuel operates said valve means to its closed position to prevent fuel from flowing to said one main burner.

Claim 17

In a fuel control system for an apparatus having a plurality of main burners, the improvement comprising a fluid pressure operated valve means for controlling the flow of fuel to one of said main burners, said pressure-operated valve means being responsive to the pressure of the flow of fuel to another of said main burners so that when fuel is flowing to said other main burner the pressure of that fuel operates said valve means to its closed position to prevent fuel from flowing to said one main burner.

Claim 18

In a fuel control system as set forth in claim 14, the further improvement comprising a pilot burner for said one main burner, and a safety valve means for controlling the flow of fuel to said one main burner, said safety valve means having means for sensing a certain flame means at the pilot burner for said one main burner, said sensing means only opening said safety valve means to permit fuel to flow to said one main burner when sensing said certain flame means.

Claim 19

In a fuel control system as set forth in claim 14, the further improvement comprising a pilot burner for said other main burner, and a safety valve means for controlling the flow of fuel to said other main burner, said safety valve means having means for sensing a certain flame means at the pilot burner for said other main burner, said sensing means only opening said safety valve means to permit fuel to flow to said other main burner when sensing said certain flame means.

Claim 20

In a fuel control system as set forth in claim 16, the further improvement of means interconnecting the fuel flow downstream of said safety valve means to said pressure-operated valve means to close the same when said safety valve means is in the opened position thereof.
