Abstract

Abstract Apparatus for concreting multiple section or multipanel structures such as elevated highway and bridge structures of reinforced or prestressed concrete, comprising two girders that are movable relative to one another, one of which is a scaffold girder and the other an advancing girder that supports the scaffold girder as it is advanced, which girders are generally of the same length and disposed across a section being concreted where they absorb the load together, and which after hardening of the concrete can be shifted to a new section to be concreted, with the advancing girder moving across the new section first while supported on the scaffold girder, whereupon the scaffold girder is moved into position above the advancing girder with its front end supported thereon and the rearward end supported on a frame having rollers.

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 245 words
Apparatus for concreting multiple-section structures, particularly elevated highway and bridge structures of reinforced or prestressed concrete, said apparatus comprising two girders that are displaceable relative to one another, one said girder being an advancing girder and the other said girder being a scaffold girder supported on said advancing girder during advancing operations, each of said girders being substantially of a length corresponding to a section of the structure being built and both being located together in the same section of the structure and jointly carrying the load during the concrete pouring and hardening stage, and load distributing means intermediate said girders distributing the load therebetween, said load distributing means being releasable to permit movement of the girders separately to a new section of the structure and retaining said scaffold girder during construction operations above said advancing girder; and supporting frame means operative during the advancing stage to support said scaffold girder on the roadway and to support said advancing girder movably on said scaffold girder, jack means operative to support said advancing girder in a new position at its rearward end on the roadway and at its forward end over a succeeding column in a series, girder support means for supporting said scaffold girder on the rearward end of said advancing girder and means including a support having rollers provided at the rearward end of said scaffold girder operative to ride on the roadway while moving said scaffold girder into position above said advancing girder.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 245 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 29 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 1, where said support means for retaining said scaffold girder include a plurality of hydraulic presses disposed at equally spaced distances along said girders.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 53 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 1, where said supporting frame means include a suspended frame depending from the forward end of said scaffold girder and movably supporting said advancing girder and rollers intermediate said advancing and said scaffold girder slidably supporting the rearward upper end of said advancing girder against said scaffold girder.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 36 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 3, where said suspended frame comprises downwardly extending bars and supporting brackets extending inwardly from said bars toward one another, and rollers on said brackets for movably supporting said advancing girder.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 19 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 1, where said scaffold girder and said advancing girder are torsion resisting box girders.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 1, where said support having rollers is in the form of a portal frame having legs on which said rollers are mounted.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 31 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 including transverse beams cantilevering outwardly from said scaffold girder and suspension members supporting casting frames or shells on said beams and thereby on said girders.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 56 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 7 comprising U-shaped frames, each having an upper horizontal leg adjustably supported on one of said beams and parallel thereto, a vertical connecting yoke and a bottom horizontal leg supporting casting frames or casings, said vertical yoke being arranged in a location away from the panel of the roadway being constructed.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 including a pivot pin disposed in operation intermediate said scaffold girder and said advancing girder.
