Abstract THE VAPOR PHASE OXIDATION OF OLEFINICALLY UNSATURATED ALDEHYDES SUCH AS ACROLEIN TO THE CORRESPONDING OLEFINICALLY UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACIDS SUCH AS ACRYLIC ACID IN THE PRESENCE OF A MECHANICALLY STABLE OXIDATION CATALYST COMPOSED OF A FORM OF THE COMBIEND OXIDES OF MOLYBDENUM, VANADIUM AND TUNGSTEN, WHICH CATALYST IS PREFERABLY ON A SILICA CARRIER.
