Abstract WALL THINNNING OF MOLDINGS MADE BY PRESSURE DEFORMATION IS AVOIDED BY LOCALLY PRECONDITIONING THE MATERIAL STRUCTURE OF A SHEET OF SUITABLE MATERIAL, FOR EXAMPLE, A SUPERPLASTIC METAL. THE PRECONDITIONING INCLUDES A HEAT TREATMENT OF THE MATERIAL STRUCTURE IN SELECTED PORTIONS OF THE SHEET TO REDUCE THE STRAIN PLASTICITY IN THESE PORTIONS DURING THE FORMING PROCESS.
