Abstract THIS APPLICATION DISCLOSED DIAPHRAGM-TYPE SHEET FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR FORMING SHEET BLANK WORKPIECE MATERIAL, ESPECIALLY PLASTIC MATERIAL, BY SUCH APPARATUS. THE APPARATUS COMPRISES A RIGID DIE AND AN ELASTOMERIC DIAPHRAGM WHICH IS FORCED BY FLUID PRESSURE INTO THE DIE AGAINST A SHEET WORKPIECE BLANK TO FORCE THE BLANK AGAINST THE DIE TO FORM A SHAPED ARTICLE.
