Abstract CONTINUOUS ARTIFICIAL FIBER STRANDS ARE WIDENED AND LOOSENED BY MEANS OF A SINGLE OR MULTIPLE PASSES THROUGH AN APPARATUS HAVING A PLURALITY OF ROWS OF NOZZLES. GAS IS BLOWN THROUGH ONE ROW OF NOZZLES AWAY FROM THE CENTER. AND IS BLOWN THROUGH THE ADJACENT ROW OF NOZZLES TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE APLPARATUS.
