Abstract AN HYDROCARBON ELASTOMER IS TACKIFIED BY UNIFORMLY MIXING WITH AN ORGANIC CYCLIC RESIN, WHICH HAS AT LEAST ONE POLAR FUNCTIONAL GROUP AND A MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF AT LEAST 200, AGING THE RESULTING MIXTURE IN THE SUBSTANTIAL ABSENCE OF OZONE AND FREE-RADICAL PRODUCING AGENTS UNTIL A PHASE, DIFFERENT FROM THE BULK OF THE MIXTURE, FORMS ON A SURFACE OF THE MIXTURE, FOLLOWED BY EXPOSING SAID SURFACE TO OZONE OR A FREE RADICAL PRODUCING AGENT.
