Abstract A METHOD OF PRODUCING A SEGREGATIVE-FREE HIGHLY HOMOGENEOUS ALLOY COMPOSED OF AT LEAST TWO OR MORE OF SUCH HIGH MELTING TEMPERATURE REACTIVE METALS AS TI, ZR, HF, NB, TA, MO AND W AND MIXTURES THEREOF. IN THIS METHOD BOTH BASIS METAL AND ALLOYING METAL OR METALS ARE REDUCED TO A POWDER FORM HAVING A GRAIN SIZE SMALLER THAN 50 MESH RESPECTIVELY, THEN THOROUGHLY MIXING THE POWDERS OF SAID BASIS METAL AND SAID ALLOYING METAL(S), ENCLOSING THE RESULTANT MIXTURE IN THE BASIS METAL FOR FORMING INTO A CONSUMABLE ELECTRODE AND MELTING THE CONSUMABLE ELECTRODE IN VACUUM OR IN AN INERT GAS ATMOSPHERE IN A CLOSED VESSEL.
