Abstract DISCLOSED IS A PROCESS FOR ADHERENTLY DEPOSITING A FILM A BORON NITRIDE DIRECTLY UPON THE SURFACE OF A SUBSTRATE CONSISTING PRIMARILY OF COPPER OR COPPER ALLOY, COMPRISING THE STEPS OF FIRST DEGENERATING THE SURFACE OF THE SUBSTRATE BY THE INTERSPERSION OF FOREIGN ATOMS INTO THE LATTICE STRUCTURE OF THE COPPER, AND THEN DEPOSITING A FILM OF BORON NITRIDE ON THE DEGENERATED SURFACE.
