Abstract A PROCESS FOR REGENERATING NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC RUBBER COMPRISING THE STEPS OF SWELLING THE RUBBER, PREFERABLY IN FINELY DIVIDED FORM, WITH A SOLVENT, ADDING A DEVULCANIZATION AGENT TO DEVULCANIZE THE RUBBER AND DISSOLVE THE RUBBER IN THE SOLVENT. THE SOLVENT IS SUBSTANTIALLY NONVOLATILE IN A TEMPERATURE RANGE OF 180-230* C. THE LIQUID OR SEMI-LIQUID REGENERATED PRODUCT MAY SUBSEQUENTLY BE INCORPORATED AS A PLASTICIZER INTO OTHER RUBBERS.
