Abstract THIS INVENTION MODIFIES THE CONVENTIONAL HEXAGONAL HONEYCOMB CORE DESIGN BY CHANGING THE LENGTHS OF THE SIDES AND THE ANGLES WITHIN THE HEXAGONAL CORES THEMSELVES SO AS TO PROVIDE A HONEYCOMB HAVING THE SAME SHEAR STRENGTH CHARACTERISTICS IN THE RIBBON DIRECTION AS THE NORMAL DIRECTION, AND WITH AN ACCOMPANYING REDUCTION IN WEIGHT OF THE HONEYCOMB MATERIAL.
